Bomb threats will apparently get you double MD's! As in, I had two doctors. They had some theories, but will know more after they run my blood work again with the new and improved tests.
Edward from Twilight took 12 vials of blood. I handled the urine sample on my own, because I am independent like that.
The two Rheu's scoffed at my theory that the flu bug caused the positive ANA results. I could see the thought bubble above the one guy's head that said, "stay away from the Internet dummy!"
- They think that perhaps I am one of the 10 - 15% of lucky folks that just have a positive ANA. This is the one they are leaning toward.
- OR because I am hypothyroid, it caused a false positive. The new blood work is supposed to be more sensitive to that. Rheu #1 seemed amazed that my endocrinologist didn't do any testing to find the cause of my hypothyroid. Cause? Huh? I thought you just were, or you were not. Will have to google that one - while sticking my tongue out in the Rheu and my RE's general directions. Which might be hard, since they are in opposite directions.
- I digress.
- Maybe I do have Lupus and just don't have any symptoms yet. Like if the numbers come back high again, that's a possibility. And Rheu #2 said that people with Lupus can have normal pregnancies.
I have no idea when I will get the results. I was distracted by Edward and wanted to get to work.
It was crappy to rehash the miscarriages - much akin to twisting a dagger in my big toe.

I hope this means you are a bit closer to getting some real info that will help you.
One of my doctors once told me to print out anything internetty that I found interesting and bring it in - she was willing to pursue the research if it looked valid. I thought that was a nice way of handling it, since of course there is a chance that it might help.
Maybe she just tossed it in the recycling, though. But at least she didn't give me the thought-bubble look!
I'm so sorry it was traumatic to talk about the miscarriages, but at least you're closer to getting some answers. I hope it's news that leads to some positive steps.
I hope it turns out to be nothing. Not that I think it will help you feel better but my sister-in-law has Lupus and she has three beautiful children. Don't give up!

Good you have 2 peoples opnions. Hypothyroidism can be due to inflammatory disease or an auto immune so is worse finding out the cause in your case. I have hypothyroidism but they have never tested the cause in me.

And ouch. I have never had to explain my miscarriages yet. I'm sorry that your charts weren't enough.
Everything will be o.k. I just wish the doctors would have already told you that so you can relax.

Glad you were able to see the doctor (and two at that!!). I hope they find the answers and information that you want. Ugh, I just hate tests, and waiting.
